ZARQA the Web Series
ZARQA is a new comedy web series in production from FUNdamentalist Films, a Regina-based production company belonging to Zarqa Nawaz, the Creator of Little Mosque on the Prairie. With funds from the Canada Media Fund (CMF), the Independent Production Fund (IPF), and Creative Saskatchewan, the web series finished production in October of 2021.
In Season 1, what happens when a vengeful, divorced Muslim woman finds out that her ex-husband is marrying a white yoga instructor half his age?
In Season 2, Zarqa’s pursuit of a holier-than-thou social influencer’s friendship and clout backfires when she gets cancelled, sending her life spiraling out of control as she claws her way out of the latest hole she’s dug.
Zarqa Nawaz herself stars in the series.
